West Indian Islands fust for 27 as Mitchell Starc Breaks Test Record in Australia victory

Mitchell Starc took the fastest five-wing transport in test history when Australia in Jamaica looked for only 27 in West Indies.

When Starc 204 followed for victory in the third test, John Campbell was caught behind the first ball and removed both Kevlon Anderson and Brandon King in a remarkable opening.

The West Indies left 0/3, and Starc then lacked Mikyle Louis and Shai Hope to do five gates in 15 balls. No bowler had previously taken fewer than 19 deliveries with five winds.

Louis’s Wicket was the 400th Starc in tests and ended with figures from 6 to 9, which expanded his remarkable record with the pink ball.

He now has 81 gates in day-night tests, 38 more than any other bowl.

West Indian Islands were in a serious danger of falling to the lowest total in test history -the 26 against England in New Zealand in 1955 -but Justin Greaves’ top score of 11 made it.

Scott Boland then took a hat trick, sealed when Jomel Warrican was thrown clean, and Alzarri Joseph had to ensure that the hosts did not share history.

However, Jayden Seales was awakened by Starc, the seventh duck of the Innings, in the next ball when a total of 47 remained as a West Indian islands.

This ended a 176-run victory for Australia and a 3-0 series Clean Sweep.

“It was a fantastic series. I think we continued to see some difficult strikes,” said Starc.

“It was a few days, very pleasant and I will go home with a smile on my face.

“Today only everything was so synchronous. Anyone who had the ball today was immediately in the brand. I don’t think we imagined that he would happen so quickly, but if you have an attack like ours, some things can happen.”

West Indian captain Roston Chase said: “It is heartbreaking to be in a position in which we believe that we can win the game and then come out and have this bad impact.

“It is something that recurs for the entire series – that makes it even more disappointed.”
