Uber exposes ‘Senior Accounts’ in Great Britain to help older people travel

Uber starts a function for relatives to book and follow trips for their older parents or grandparents in Great Britain from a distance.

New “senior accounts” should make it easier for the order employees to deal with the Ride hail app.

There is access to an optimized version of the app with larger text, buttons that are easier to tap, simplified screens and fewer steps for booking.

Due to the existing “Family Profile” function from Uber, trustworthy family members or supervisors can invite an older adult to set up an account.

You can then book or manage trips for the older user from afar.

This means that you can offer support from a distance, including live tracking of your trip and the possibility of contacting the driver or the security report from Uber.

Relatives can also access the name and vehicle information of the driver if a booking is made.

Users can save preferred places to book links or use flexible payment options. You also have the option of booking trips independently without linking to a relative.

Senior accounts were piloted in the USA and Latin America last month and are now being introduced in Great Britain.

Uber said it worked with older users and accessibility for the development of the function, with which the concerns that many older people are excluded from technology or do not have the abilities to be digital.

The introduction of “teen accounts” last year also follows, in which parents and supervisors are also transferred to bookings and teenagers to experienced drivers.

Andrew Brem, General Manager of Uber UK, said the instruments prioritized the simplicity, security and peace for older people and their families.

“These characteristics are about helping older adults to remain independent and connected, and give supporters the trust that Uber is there to help,” he said.
