Troubling final text of the British hiker, which is missing in Italian Alps for five days

A British hiker who was missing seven days after a hike in the Alps wrote “I lost my way” in his last SMS.

Matthew Hall has not been seen since July 9th when he was on the way of the B&B Ploncher Hotel in Chiavenna, Lombardy, to make a hike.

The 33-year-old from Hull was supposed to fly home on Saturday, July 12th, but still has to get in touch with his friends and family at home.

His mother Sara Foster told the BBC: “I am obviously very shaky at the moment, but I’m really trying to stay positive.”

It is assumed that Matthew was wearing a beige top and had a black backpack when he was missing.

Attempts to contact Matthew have so far been unsuccessful, while some of his friends traveled to the country to join the search efforts.

One last text to his friend was: “I lost the way and stopped to rest.”

The alarm was triggered by the hotel owners after Matthew had not collected his breakfast for several days while initially believing that he went for hikes early.

But on the day of the cash register, the owners found that his things were untouched and that his backpack was not in his room.

Italian media reports indicate that Matthew can travel towards Savogno or thatils, from Borgonuovo or in the direction of Pianazzola, Daloo or Lagunch, from Chiavenna.

Ms. Foster informed the BBC that from July 5, when he started his journey, her son sent many pictures to her after the following Monday, “it seemed to be a spaces”.

She appealed to tourists and locals to keep an eye on Matthew, and added: “We just want him to come home.”

A spokesman for the foreign office said: “We support the family of a British man who is missing in Italy and have contact with the local authorities.”
