With age, it can be more difficult to treat chronic diseases because the natural effects of our body are slowing down. In some older people, aging does not seem to hit as hard as for others.

As discussed in conversation, research has shown how older people can slow down the progress of chronic diseases in old age, and in fact a large part of it depends on nutrition.

The new study by researchers from the Aging Research Center of the Karolinska Institute of Sweden followed more than 2,400 older Swedish adults for 15 years.

“We found that people who consistently ate a healthy diet developed slow diseases,” said researcher, “in contrast to those whose diet was considered more inflammatory.

They added: “This is important because several health states are one of the biggest problems with which older people are confronted. This increases the risk of disabilities, hospital stay and early death.”

The diet that benefits them with increasing age

The diet that appears most effective is rich in fruit and vegetables as well as healthy fats and limited processed food.

The researchers said: “So what should older adults eat? The message is clear: eat a lot of vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts and whole grains. Choose healthy fats such as rapeseed oil and fish. Limit red and processed meat, sugary drinks and solid fats.”

And it is never too late to improve your diet and general well -being.

“Some of the advantages of a healthy diet were more pronounced in women and the oldest participants: those aged 78 … even at the age of very old -age diets,” they added.

If you are concerned about the prices of these healthier decisions, they are not afraid. Frozen fruit and vegetables can be just as nutritious and just as advantageous for our well -being as their fresh counterparts.
