Fair play for the Spanish press to find another element of a Chloe Kelly penalty that some may find “unnecessary”. And no, it did not turn the ball back on the spot, or the small stamp either on the side of the circle or the increase in the left leg before jumping into the apron, all parts of Kelly’s routine that are completely necessary for them.
Instead, Kelly’s little side -side panel was for the Spanish goalkeeper Cata Coll after she had hit her penalty into the net to win England the euro that attracted some attention. Kelly’s focus was on running the English fans after producing the winning moment in a second euro final in a row, and there was only a fleeting look in Colls.

But it was enough to send the feeling that everyone knew that Kelly, when the moment came, would remain composed and deliver another coupling moment. It was never in doubt, even if Kelly had saved and admitted her earlier punishment in the semi-finals against Italy to miss three penalties in training before the Euro 2025 final. “I don’t miss punishments twice,” said Kelly.
How England relied on this self -confidence and was saved by Kelly’s self -confidence to change a game. Your replacement appearances in Switzerland brought support in the quarter -finals, the winner in the semi -finals and further support in the final in order to achieve a further profit sentence in the shooting. Of the four England, Kelly has now won under Sarina Wiegman and achieved the fifth penalty to win three of them and kept them alive in the others.
However, there is another world in which Kelly was not at all in the euro to save England. After the 27-year-old was frozen by Manchester City, she was in a “dark place” from the square and thought about terminating the game if she had not passed her move in January on the last day of the transfer window. Finally Arsenal called and signed her again. Kelly was excluded from Wiegman’s next English squad after she had hardly played, but four months later she went to the euro after Arsenal’s victory against Barcelona in Lisbon as a Champions League winner.
Without that, it may not be Hannah Hampton’s heroic deeds or Michelle Agyemang’s effects. If Kelly hadn’t found her smile again, Wiegman hadn’t told her before the Euro 2025 final that “B **** will be shit to motivate her squad. Kelly did it for Wiegman.

“She is damn incredible,” said Kelly. “She is an incredible woman. What she did for this country should all be so grateful. What she did individually for me gave me hope when I probably didn’t have any.”

Kelly would also “thank everyone who wrote me down” – as well as those who helped her with the “dark moments”. Kelly’s confidence, she said, comes from herself – but it also had to be rebuilt by those who are closest to her. “There were many tears full -time,” said Kelly. “Especially when I saw my family.”
And so England could call the euro Pure Kelly, a player who attracts legendary moments like no other. “If she is on the field, no matter what happens, she will push her shoulders back, big in her chest and she will choose it,” said Lucy Bronze.

“In these moments at which all eyes are aimed at her and she knows that she has to produce, and she has this belief in herself,” said Esme Morgan. “Chloe just doesn’t care what other people think.”

Her penalty, for example, and her jumping, jumping technology, which she developed as a teenager at Everton, is unique in the game.
“It’s something that only works for me, I can’t explain it too much,” she said. “I recently talked to one of the coaches about it. It’s just my routine that works for me, and I take time, I take my breath and I am confident that I take a little strange for myself.”

And when Kelly turns the ball back to the spot, it is about waiting for the right moment. “It is only to be sure that I am ready and don’t let anyone take me from my routine,” she said. “I’m in the ball, so I have the feeling that it is right, and when I’m ready, there is no time when I feel that this is the perfect one.”

Even in her darkest moments, Kelly thought that her year could turn around, but certainly not. “Around the corner was a Champions League final -and now the euro finals won,” she smiled. “So thank you, everyone who wrote to me.” And that’s not cocky. It’s just true.
