The midfielder born in Newcastle United by Carlisle takes the loan step

Joe White from Newcastle United Cumbrian Premier League has made a loan train from the League One.

The midfielder born in Carlisle has joined Leyton Orient for a loan in the season.

White, 22, left with Richie Wellens’ operating system days before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

It is the latest loan train in Cumbrian’s career, in which he previously has temporary spells in Hartlepool United, Exeter City, Crewe Alexandra and Mk Dons.

He is a tenth tenth summer distinction and could appear this evening in Waltham Abbey before a potential competitive debut at the third season of the London club against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

White spoke to the Orient website: “This has been on the cards for a few weeks, and when Newcastle told me that I was allowed to borrow, Leyton was my first choice.

“I saw a large part of the team towards the end of last season, and it was really exciting to see.

“I am better with every loan I had, and I think that my skills can really help us to have an entertaining team again this season.

“I am not someone who is happy to reject and not play. I am here because I want to play games and I am determined to be successful Leyton Orient this season.”

White joins a team that narrowly missed the promotion to the championship last season. Wellens’ team lost to Charlton Athletic in the play-off final in Wembley.

The midfielder, who was in the books of Carlisle United’s Academy before joining Newcastle, is the grandson of the late former Carlisle player, coach and physioton and working man Reds manager Peter Hampton.

He made four appearances of the first team for Newcastle, where he is under contract by 2027.
