These are local eight guards who have proven that they had the right steps to be crowned British master!
The Red Rose Roller Skating Club based in Turton and Smithills traveled to Great Yarmouth to take part in the Tanzbriten championships.

Paula Callaghan, 66, coach and founder of the club, said: “We didn’t have anyone under eighth place!
“I was not surprised – because they work so hard and worked and worked and worked every day.
“But you never know what will happen on the day of the championship – you also have so many good compliments from the officials!”
Toby Halpin-Foden (16) and Jemima Corser (16) came home with the main prize and placed number one in the youth couple category.
However, this was not the only achievement for Toby, since the teenager also won the trophy for the men’s youth champion.

Elisabeth Sugden (16) and Emma Halpin Foden, 19, also achieved personal bests that landed among the top 8 of the British skaters.
The 11-year-old mini skaters Thomas Terney-Parker and Veronica Redwood (8) also reached silver and bronze in the mini championships.
Paula’s daughter Nicola Lohan, 42, is also a coach in the club – and brought her son Patrick, 5, to cheer from the sidelines.
All skaters came from Bolton-with the exception of Toby and Emma Halpin Foden, who come from Bury.

Paula said that Club Bolton’s legacy of the Rollschukladen was burning with its history of the Navada Skating Railway.
She said everyone who is interested in trying it out should visit the Turton Sports Center when the lessons started again in September.
