Jakarta, Indonesia (AP) – Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, broke out for a second day in a row and sent a pillar of volcanic materials and ashes up to 18 kilometers (11 miles) to the sky early Saturday and the cover of Debris. No victims were reported.

Another outbreak on Friday evening had ash clouds up to 10 kilometers high and had illuminated the night sky with shining lava and flashes. The two outbreaks occurred within a few hours.

The Indonesian geology agency recorded an avalanche of scorching gas clouds, mixed with stones and lava, which drove up to 5 kilometers (3 miles) on the slopes of the mountain. Drone observations showed a deep movement of magma and left tremors who registered on seismic monitors.

Vulcan material, including hot gravel in the size of the thumb, was removed from the crater up to 8 kilometers, which covered the nearby villages and cities with thick volcanic residues, the agency said. It asked the residents to be vigilant about strong rainfall that could trigger lava flows in rivers that come from the volcano.

The outbreak on Saturday was one of the largest Indonesia since 2010 when Mount Merapi, the most volatile volcano in the country, broke out on the densely populated island of Java. This outbreak killed more than 350 people and forced hundreds of thousands to evacuate.
