The centuries -old complete skeleton of a medieval knight was found under the previous place of a famous ice cream parlor PolandSaid researchers.
The discovery was made on a small property in Gdansk, a city on the coast of the country. On the site there was once an ice cream parlor called Miś, which has been working there since 1962, since then switched to a new location. Researchers say that several other archaeological discoveries have been made in recent years, including the remains of huts from the 12th and 13th centuries and an old city road.
Archaeologists from Archaeoscan Archaeological and Nature Conservation Workshop worked on the site in July when they found the knight’s tombstone. The stone made of limestone was engraved with the image of a knight, said the organization on social media. On July 8, the tombstone was moved to the Archaeological Museum of Bill. The early analysis showed that the stone probably dates back to the 13th or 14th centuries.

Two days later, the team found the complete skeleton of the medieval knight. He was buried about five inches under the tombstone, researchers said on social media. He seems to have been about 40 years old when he died, said anthropologist Dr. Aleksandra Pudło in an article published on the official GDIORAL website. The knight seems to have been between 5’6 “and 5,10”, researchers said. Pudło said the skull and the bones of the skeleton were very well preserved. Danzigtek’s website found that the skull is poorer than the other bones.
It is not clear who the knight may have served, according to the official website of BELIG. The city was captured in the early 13th century by a German Catholic military order called Teutonic Knights. It is also unclear whether the burial before the event is going or is being dated, said researchers. The knight may also have served the Sobiesław dynasty, which ruled gdikten in the 11th and 12th centuries.

Further research is carried out on the skeleton and on the tombstone as well as other relics found during the excavation. Researchers have found several other remarkable tombstones, although the knights seem to be most impressive. The tombstone is examined with 3D software, and archaeologists will probably try a detailed reconstruction of the artifact. Pudło said that the skeleton of the knight is subjected to a “thorough examination”, and the results of it could be available next year.
