When Scottie Scheffler recognizes his lifelong dream and wins the open on Sunday, he believes that he will only take two minutes until he asked himself, “What was the point?”.
World No. 1 knows that it is not satisfied, even though he would have worked so hard to raise the Claret jug.

Usually the 29 -year -old Scheffler opened so guarded and let the audience be in his constant inner struggle with his highly lucrative and giranded career. “This is not a fulfilling life,” said Scheffler. “It is fulfilled from the meaning of performance, but it does not fulfill a feeling of the deepest places in her heart.
“How you work all your life to celebrate the winning of a tournament, and then this euphoric feeling takes a few minutes. You can achieve No. 1 in the world and you are the way it is?

“This is something I rank every day. It’s like I will appear at the Masters every year. Why do I want to win this golf tournament so much? Why do I want to win the open championship so much. Again here.
“So we really do it; we work so hard for such little moments. I’m somehow sick. I love to get the work to work. I love to practice. I love to live out my dreams. But at the end of the day, sometimes I just don’t understand. I just love to play this game for a living.

Scheffler makes no secret of his faith and explains in the media center that the only book he has ever reads is the Bible. He previously explained: “The reason why I play golf is to glorify God and everything he did in my life” and after his victory in the Masters 2024, he revealed himself why he didn’t feel nervous this Sunday morning.

“My buddies, who were with me, told me:” You know, your victory is certainly on the cross, no matter what, “he said.” And that is a very special feeling. To know that I’m sure forever. You know if I win this tournament or whether I am losing this tournament, you know, my identity is sure forever. “

In the cynical corners of the changing room, they mischievously refer to his belief “Scotties superpower”, and yes, there is a little envy. But Scheffler admits that even the almighty difficulties have to help him with the Lubs of the Links game.
His best finish at Open last year was the seventh year and with his natural shot to the right into the clouds, he does not look natural by the sea. But whatever hits him this week, he is determined that he does not let it deviate outside the ropes.

“I am blessed to get out of here and play golf, but if my Golf ever influences my home life or ever affects the relationship that I have with my wife or son, this will be the last day I play for my living,” he said. “This is not all and the end. This is not the most important thing in my life. I would be more of a great father than a big golfer.”
