It is this season in which everyone is dizzy and are excited for summer vacation. For some of us, part of the anticipation is to plan what should attract. It doesn’t matter how many Cotton Voile Kaftans or linen shirts they have. It is almost impossible to oppose the early summer sale for new bathing suits, Sundresse and sandals – a kind of “holiday glasses” in retail if you will.
Maybe we do it because different holidays require different aesthetics. Take my upcoming stay with relatives in the south of France: I have been making the right kind of dress for the walk through Provencal villages for weeks – my efforts were rewarded when I stumbled across a white cotton number with exactly the right degree of “milk girls”.
If Cornwall or Devon have their speed more, a certain amount of meteorological preparation is required for all eventualities. Clobic cotton knits are ideal for throwing shorts and swimsuits when the temperatures sink, together with a waterproof sky. In addition to the practical aspects, a subtle allusion to the nautical style also feels appropriate.
A Spanish holiday could request a more Bohemian feeling with embroidered blouses and handmade espadrilles, while a Greek island escapes that fits a wardrobe that shares the same, minimal appeal as a harbor side.
It is a literal attitude to vacation – a bit like floral boxes with the Chelsea Flower Show or the crispy whites to Wimbledon – but it is also part of the mind where they go. If you eat your body weight in Gelato in Italy or have a pastel de Nata at every opportunity in Portugal, you can only be more fun in the right context.
Of course, it is only half of the challenge to curate your vacation wardrobe. Fitting all of this in a hand luggage approved by Ryanair is completely different. Success and they won the holiday season before they even made their way.
French girl summer
Elvina Kleid, £ 145, Sézane
This look took its aesthetic information from Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin in the 1960s. Tie a scarf around your hair, throw your things into a basket basket and you will very quickly resemble the kind of person who knows your mer from your mère.
Nobody understands this better than Morgan Sezalory, founder of Sézane, who likes to flee with her family to caps Ferrat. “I always like it too simplicity-free, essential parts that I can mix and fit together throughout the season. A crispy white shirt or a well-cut couple shorts are a staple for me,” she says.
Accessories help this wardrobe basic food in the evening: “A beautiful pearl necklace such as the morning or a statement belt like the Selena can completely transform an outfit from day to night, especially if it is carried with a few paragraphs,” she adds.
Greek island goddess
Seiden -Astrea -Dress, £ 350, Hansin
The back and efforts should be the catchphrase when it comes to pulling yourself up for the Greek islands, the mental equivalent of crystal-clear water that is packed on a pebble beach. Think of sun bleached linen, traditional leather sandals or one of Hansine’s silk dresses loved by Kate Moss and Sadie Frost.
The founder of the label, Hansine Johnston, was born in Greece and created her collection with Iceland Summers. They ensure a wonderfully light packaging: “I always say that they see color in a completely different way when they are in the Greek sunshine and light,” she says. “I pack five or six rhodes dresses, some in neutral and darkness and others in super light colors. If the clothes stick so small, I can honestly look for almost two weeks in a hand luggage case with some space to bring the treats back. Because I often visit the cycladia islands that are really tiny.
‘Dolce Vita’ Dressing
Gingerbread cotton blend-midi dress, £ 790, La Double JX Mytheresa
In Italy, maximalism is the agenda at least when you ask JJ Martin, the founder of La Doublej, born in America, based in Milan. Martin’s collection is a celebration of color and pressure that really comes for itself in the country of Pizza, Pasta and La Dolce Vita.
However, different parts of the country require different moods. “I just spent a weekend in Como, where we had many very chic meals with Comasco families – very classic Italian – and there I was wearing a classic printed shirt address, but very neat and neat,” she says. “When I spend my weekends in Forte dei Marmi, I am on the beach most of the time. The Salt’n’vinegar -Strick -set is super chic and simple -the perfect look on the beach day.”
Martin is something of a master when it comes to the countless possibilities to dress for the heat: “I drive to Stromboli in August, where it gets hot. I will bring many cotton pieces with me-we will essentially sit on a volcano.
Nautical by nature
When it comes to a British vacation, you have to be prepared for all eventualities, Pip Durell, the former Vogue stylist and founder of Women’s Shirting Brand, advises nothing. Durell grew up in Devon and returns as often as possible. “The unpredictability of the weather is actually what I love,” she says. “In golden sunshine, is it obviously preferable to prefer a brisk dip, but an unexpected downpour?
Of course, your wardrobe is dominated by your own designs and selected for your practicality. Shirt and shorts sets, together with a cotton knit to change the waist, only in case. “[Seersucker] Is perfect for the heat and in a pre -crossed material that can be pulled out of a housing and immediately worn out without ironing. The other sentence that I always grab is our hemp … in a slightly more important material that becomes softer with every wear. Hemmodynamic is thermodynamic, which means that it keeps it cool when it is hot and warm when it is cold – ideal on the coast. I like to mix my blues and combine them with birch sticks. This is my summer uniform. “
Spanish Señorita
For some, the summer is not completely without a visit to Spain-Sei, the stormy Atlantic coast of the north, the Bohemian party vibes from Ibiza or the sandy beaches of the increasingly popular south. “It is a season of joy and lively energy, and I like to reflect on it in my clothes,” says Montserrat Álvarez, founder of the Atlantica brand brand. “Galicia – where my roots are – is always part of my summer. I love the north coast in summer, especially the small islands scattered over the Rías Baixas. On their wild beaches and their quiet charm has something magical.”
For them, a holiday wardrobe contains typical Spanish staples as with rope roasts. “A crispy white cotton dress, flat espadrilles and silk-cotton band ana for the head are my start-up. And I would like to give playful details with one of our handmade bags.” There is always an element that also reminds her of the past holidays: “A unique souvenir that nobody else has and that she immediately rests back into a special moment.”
