Taylah Paterson is the first woman from Orkney who has won double gold in the 100 -m and 200 m games of women since 1985.
The sprinter followed Hilary Rendall and the couple was mapped together in the 200 m after the success of Paterson.

Paterson, who sprinted to Scotland at the Commonwealth Games 2022, smashed the finish line in the 100 m in 11.90 seconds.
It was the only sub-12 race at this year’s Island Games that takes place in Orkney.
So far, the Orkadians have used seven medals with Patersons two, which are summarized by three silver and two bronze.

Paterson came against Shetland’s Katie Dinwoodie and Guernseys Abi Galpin in the 100 m.

Dinwoodie then took third place in the 200m, with Yyns Mons Ffion Roberts claimed silver.
Rendall carried her medals over the whole week and was thrilled that Paterson was able to join her in an exclusive club.
The 2025 Island Games have been taking place since July 12th and runs until July 18, after it was officially opened by Princess Anne.
24 islands take place in the competition, including Saint Helena in the South Atlantic, the Falkland Islands and the Cayman Islands.
