Just two years after her own diagnosis, Olivia Munn announced that her mother Kim Munn has breast cancer.
The Newsroom Alaun, 44, announced that in March 2024 she had breast cancer almost a year after her diagnosis. During their treatment, five operations were subjected, including a double mastectomy – a process that contains the removal of both breasts.
On Wednesday, Olivia announced on Instagram that her mother Kim was recently diagnosed.
“You may know that when I talk about my own fight against cancer, I submitted the test for lifelong risk assessment that saved my life. I never predicted that it would also save my mother’s life,” she wrote and referred to the online tool that was used for the diagnosis of her cancer in 2023.
In the post office, she recalled how she asked her mother and sister to carry out the Tyrer-Cuzick breast cancer lifetime risk assessment test in 2023. The risk calculator “evaluates the key factors from their personal and family medical history in order to appreciate their lifelong risk of developing breast cancer”, according to the official website. A score of 20 percent or more means that you have a high risk of cancer risk.

During the test, Olivia’s mother scored 26.2 percent, although “her mammography had just been released”. So she insisted that her mother got an MRI.
“Shortly after the MRI, my mother stage 1 her2 breast cancer was diagnosed,” wrote Olivia. “It has now completed 12 round chemotherapy and will continue monthly Herceptin transfusions by this autumn.”
Olivia detailed how emotionally this time is for her family, especially after her own diagnosis.
“From my mother, who was to me after my double mastectomy, who was there for her. From me to find an oncologist to my mother and I who share. I can tell you: to go through cancer is really difficult. But there is something if a loved one is even more heartbreaking,” she continued.
The Your friends and neighbors Star informed that she learns everything she can, about Her2, a kind of breast cancer that “tests positively for a protein called human epidal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2),” said the Mayo clinic.
“I spent many nights taking care of my mother when chemotherapy got too much and wished I could fight the fight for her, even if only for a day to give her a little break,” continued Olivia. “It is not a small task to recognize that you cannot do it for him. For someone out there who takes care of someone or has turned it into a profession to do this, thank you. These gifts can feel almost impossible without them.”
Olivia repeated how the Tyrer-Cuzick risk assessment test saved her and her mother’s life. She also admitted how advantageous the test for women can be everywhere.
“We have taught our periods, annual dad smears and mammograms at 40. And now we need every gynecologist to include lifelong risk shears in your care plan,” she added. “All of these things are important, they cannot let go. My mother wanted me to tell them that she hopes by sharing her story that this saves a person’s lives.”
She then described how proud she is from Kim because she had taken her life to the fullest in the diagnosis.
“She handled all of this with bravery and humor, while she is still going crazy to us (just a few days after her double mastectomy, which she tried to wash laundry and to eat – she is crazy.)”, Wrote Olivia.
The actor ended the long message by thanking the nurses, patient coordinators and employees who took care of their mother.
Olivia’s contribution contained many photos of Kim, including one of the duo in the hospital and someone else than Olivia was a baby. Kim showed a snap only days after the operation, while another Olivia’s husband John Mulaney showed who was sitting in the hospital with his mother -in -law.
The article also contained a video of Kim that rang a bell after completing her chemotherapy. The hospital staff held the signs with the inscription “No Mo Chemo” and “directly from Chemo”.
Since the unveiling of her breast cancer diagnosis, Olivia has also spoken openly about her career as an actor. During an interview with Insider Edition‘S Alison Hall last month, she remembered having shot sex scenes with the actor Jon Hamm after subjecting a double mastectomy.
“It was difficult,” she said when she played Hamm’s love interest on the Apple TV+ series. Your friends and neighbors. “But I really wanted to do it for the character and the show.”
When asked whether she had “proud” herself, Munn replied: “Yes, it was a big hurdle for me.”
