Newly under contract Charlie Warren could miss the start of the season for Bolton Wanderers

Charlie Warren will find out this week whether he can start the season for Bolton Wanderers.

The summer signing that had shown the surprise hit of the pre -season after its move of the North Division of Ismian League North Division Felixstowe and Walton United, his wrist injured in the friendly victory at Barrow last week.

Warren was excluded from the squad for the 2-0 victory on Saturday against Hibs, but Steven Schumacher is waiting for the result of scans to see whether he will be on the side for up to eight weeks.

“Charlie injured his wrist,” said the Bolton boss. “He recently crossed Barrow.

“I don’t know if he collided with the goalkeeper or ended up on his wrist. But he has a bone in his scaphoid or whatever it is called.

“Apparently he did something similar to his other arm last year. So he will be in a line -up. We are not sure how long it will be.

“It now depends on what the specialist says next week. But that’s why he was not available.”

Wanders scored a deserved 2-0 win at Hibs on Saturday with the kind permission of gates of the second half of Amari Cozier-Duberry and Sonny Sharples-Ahmed.

Thierry Gale and Cozier-Duberry stared at the game with Szabi and Carlos Mendes Gomes in the second half.

Schumacher is satisfied with the start that his new wing players have made.

“You created opportunities and did a job without the ball,” he said.

“That’s what your job is about. Create and hit and obviously without the ball, do a real job for the team defensively and come back.

“Thierry did it well. He gets better the more minutes he gets. You can see how I said last week he is a bit behind in his previous season, but he will be better. He has an insight into what he was about.

“And Amario came in and ran the ground. The boys love everyone. He did it really well.

“He has some skills and his goal was excellent

“He did well in the championship last year last year. I talked about him with my good buddy at Blackburn, Keith Downing. And he said he was a really good character.

“He started the season excellently for her. And when they changed the manager, he only got a little slower. But we knew what he was about.

“He is fast. He is sharp. It is brilliant over five meters.

“And he has some quality, as you saw today. So I’m very happy with his work.”
