From this summer, Netflix teamed up with NASA to Livestream Rocket Starts on his platform.

The new partnership announced on Monday comes when the streaming giant wants to expand its live event reporting.

In addition to Rocket Starts, the audience can also be able to observe astronaut world walks, mission reporting and breathtaking live views of the Earth from the International Space Station.

“The National Aeronautics and Space Act from 1958 asks us to tell our history of space research with the greatest possible audience,” said Rebecca Sirmons, General Manager of NASA+ at the headquarters of the agency in Washington.

“Together we commit to a golden age of innovation and exploration – inspiring new generations – directly from the comfort of your couch or in the palm of your phone.”

With this new partnership, NASA hopes to use the global audience of Netflix of more than 700 million people.

“The broader efforts of the agency include the connection with as many people as possible through video, audio, social media and live events,” said NASA in a statement. “The goal is simple: the excitement of the discoveries, inventions and space research to the people wherever they are.”

It is important to note that these streams are not exclusively for Netflix – they remain freely in the NASA app and the NASA.Gov.

An exact date has not yet been announced if NASA+ content will be available on Netflix, but it will arrive at some point this summer.

Subscribers will find the NASA+ LIVE feeds that are integrated in their account in addition to their favorite series.

This new company is Netflix’s second main excursion into the world of live streaming. It comes months after the platform has been moved live about the first major sporting event: the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in November 2024.

While the match on Netflix drew a record of 108 million global spectators, the stream was affected by technical difficulties and buffets, which led to a widespread outrage. A man in Florida later raised a lawsuit against the streamer on behalf of consumers who were affected by the constant technical problems during the stream.

The next month, the streamer started his first NFL Christmas game day, which broadcast the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens against the Houston Texans. This live stream event went fairly smoothly, without much complaints from spectators.

In the meantime, it was reported in February that Netflix had the Live round of Function for Formula 1 in the United States. ESPN currently has the live rights for F1 in the USA, but ESPN’s exclusivity time to discuss the terms with F1 bosses has now expired. The tender procedure for the 2026 season is scheduled to begin this year.
