Mark Zuckerberg has announced the creation of a new AI superintelligence unit at Meta, which will concentrate on the development of artificial intelligence that exceeds human intelligence.
The Meta Superintelligence Laboratory is to integrate AI into all products in the middle of a massive advance from the Tech -Riese, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The youngest company has already proven to be controversial after several top -class researchers had been poached by Chatgpt Creator Openai.
According to Sam Altman, CEO of Openaai, Mr. Zuckerberg Chatgpt offered up to 100 million US dollars, with several employees joining the new superintelligence laboratory.
The former Openai employees who have already joined the Meta Superintelligence Lab include Shuchao Bi, Huiwen Chang, Ji Lin, Hongyu Ren, Jiahui Yu and Shengjia Zhao, while new appointments also include former Google and Anthropic researchers.
In a memo to the employees on Monday, the META boss said that the new talent would help deliver his billions of users “personal superintelligence”.
“If the pace of the AI progress accelerates, the development of superintelligence occurs. I think this will be the beginning of a new era for humanity, and I am fully obliged to do what it takes to keep meta,” he wrote in the memo reported by CNBC.
“Meta is uniquely positioned to deliver superintelligence to the world. We have a strong business that supports the establishment of significantly more calculation than smaller laboratories. We have deeper experiences with the structure and cultivation of products that achieve billions of people.
“We are groundbreaking and lead the CI glasses and wearables category that grows very quickly. And our corporate structure enables us to move with much greater conviction and boldness.”
The new laboratory is led by Metas Chief Ai officer Alexandr Wang, who joined the company after meta invested 14.3 billion US dollars in his startup scaleai.
In the memo to the employees, Mr. Zuckerberg said that Meta expected “to the border” of superintelligence “next year” and similar predictions from Mr. Altman.
Meta’s new Superintelligence Laboratory will also work to improve the LAMA models that META AI operates in its various apps.
