James van der Beek gave an honest update about his cancer trip.
The 47-year-old actor opened two years after the diagnosis, during a Wednesday episode with colon cancer of the third stage three years after the diagnosis Today. After noticing that he felt “great”, he described how cancer was “a trip” for him.
“There are only so many ups and downs and so many strangers. Cancer, I call it a full -time job,” he said on the show.
He said that there were no “warning signs” that led to his diagnosis, he asked people to examine, even if they have no symptoms.
According to the American Cancer Society, people with average colon cancer risk at the age of 45 should begin regular examinations. Those with an increased risk of cancer should start with screenings earlier.

During his interview with TodayThe Dawson’s Creek Star explained how he spoke to his six children, whom he shares with Ms. Kimberly van der Beek, about his cancer diagnosis. He also shared his advice for parents who have these difficult conversations with their children.
“I am far from an expert, but our approach was to be as honest as possible, so honestly about the degree of your understanding, or, or because you know it,” he said. “You know if father is in pain. You know it, and so that I didn’t tell you it, I think that you confuse her even more.”
“If you tell you what you do and tell you the approach, you can see it and you can feel it, and I think it’s your trip your trip,” he added before he found that he let his children “emotionally” show him.
Van der Beek and his wife have four daughters – Olivia, 14, Annabel, 11, Emilia, Nine, and Gwendolyn, six – and two sons, Joshua (13) and Jeremiah, two.
During an interview with People In November, after unveiling his diagnosis, he explained, which prompted him to examine cancer, which was ultimately a symptom that he had overlooked.
“I had always associated cancer with old and unhealthy, seated lifestyles,” said van der Beek, said van der Beek. “But I was in astonishing heart cycle form. I tried to eat healthy -or as far as I knew it at the time.”
In the summer of 2023 he cut coffee out of his diet and thought it was the reason for his irregular intestinal movements. However, when this did not change his symptoms, he went to the hospital.
“Then the gastroenterologist said – in his most pleasant way – that it was cancer,” he said at the time.
“I think I’m in a shock … The most difficult thing is that there are so many unknown people with cancer. When someone who likes to answer, it is one of the most difficult things not to know,” he continued.
