Is there a solar eclipse in August? Yes, but not in the next month

Reports on a solar eclipse on August 2 have spread on social media that were supported by stories in several news agencies.

Although the excitement has concentrated on the heavenly spectacle, the next month will take place, hopeful Sky Gazer actually have to wait two years to watch it.

In the entire solar eclipse, the moon will walk in front of the sun in 2027 and throw a shadow in large parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Another solar eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026 via Western Europe.

The path of entirety for the solar eclipse 2027, where the sun is blocked completely from the field of vision, begins in the North Atlantic before it ends over the Mediterranean arc and in the Indian ocean.

Luxor in Egypt is located in the middle of the path, on which the longest whole of six minutes and 23 seconds takes place.

The last time that an entirety lasted so long was in 1991 – and next time it was not until 2114.

NASA recommends everyone who hopes to see the solar eclipse to choose a location based on the weather and not how close it is to the way of the whole.

“It is much more important to observe the weather forecasts one or two days before the solar eclipse and choose a place with the best chance of a cloud-free sky during the solar eclipse,” wrote the US space agency in a blog post.

“Good weather is the key to a successful Eclipse tour – better to see that a shorter solar eclipse of the Clear Sky can see a longer solar eclipse under Clouds.”

Anyone who is not directly under the path of entirety can still see a partially solar eclipse on August 2, 2027, which is visible from Iceland and Madagascar.
