“He is the first person, the first Indian in the ISS. It is really a great moment for us Indians,” the student Isma Tarikh told Reuters. “It’s an inspiration for me … Even I want to be something great and like (Shuckla) are a beginner in the world.”
Another student, Mohammad Hamughan, called it a “proud moment for Indians”.

Shuclas flight is viewed as the forerunner of the Indian own Gaganyaan mission, the country’s first human space mission, to start around 2027.
