Two athletes from the Isle of Wight have secured a place in the 2026 World Championships.
Jan Fletcher and Liz Dunlop from Wight Tri defy stormy conditions in the Cardiff Standard distance triathlon and marked the first qualification of the GB age group for the World Cup in Pontevedra, Spain.

After the duo enjoyed the sunny weather on June 21, the duo with rough lake, strong winds and difficult bicycle and running courses stood before a challenging race day.
Jan started together in the female wave and ended swimming in 29 minutes and 39 seconds, with Liz followed in 36 minutes and 49 seconds.
Both navigated Cardiff Bay’s bicycle course, with January one hour, 12 minutes and 57 seconds and Liz ended in an hour, 23 minutes and 11 seconds.

Despite a headwind, Jan crossed the border in the 50–54 category in a sensational two hours, 24 minutes and 35 seconds, only 16 seconds from the podium.

She took the 22nd out of 167 women as a whole.
Liz, which was finished in two hours, 52 minutes and 58 seconds, secured fourth in the category 65–69 and a total of 97.
