A 25-year-old British tourist died after falling from a hotel balcony in a popular tourist area of Malta.
Rescue services hurried to the Cavalieri Art Hotel in St. Julian early Friday morning, where they found the man’s body on the floor in front of the building. A medical team was called to Triq Spinola on the east coast of the island, but the Welsh was declared dead shortly afterwards.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the man fell off the balcony around 4.15 a.m.
The road outside the hotel was closed briefly when the police and emergency team worked at the crime scene before removing the body. According to local reports, the hotel was as usual as usual at 9 a.m. The Malta police have confirmed that an examination has not yet been completed.
The Malta times confirmed that the incident took place in the Cavalieri Art Hotel. It is believed that the late man from Gwynedd comes in North Wales.
The tragedy has led to the expression of the sympathy of politicians in the local community of the young man.
Sian Gwenllian, the member of the Senedd for Arfon, said: “The news of a 25-year-old from Gwyledd in Malta is really devastating.
“The pain that his family has to experience is unimaginable. My thoughts and those of the people in Gwyledd are with them in their grief.”
Liz Saville Roberts, the Welsh MP Liz Saville, who represents Dwyfor Meironnydd, added: “Heartbreaking news. My heart goes to the young man’s family in this extremely difficult time.”
A spokesman for the foreign office said: “We are in contact with the local authorities in relation to the death of a British in Malta.”
