Football couple is guilty of fixing over yellow cards,

Two professional footballers admitted to court to bet with corruption after they were paid by criminals to earn yellow cards during the games.

Ulises Davila, former captain of the Australian A-League side Macarthur Bulls and midfielder Kearyn Baccus and Clayton Lewis, were charged with manipulated yellow cards during the games 2023 and 2024 in May 2024.

The 33 -year -old Davila supposedly acted as contact between the players of the Southwest Sydney Club and a criminal group in Colombia and organized that the yellow cards take place during certain games.

The 33-year-old Baccus and 27-year-old Lewis were allegedly paid up to $ 10,000 Australian dollars ($ 6,550) by Davila to deliberately try to maintain the precautionary measures issued with referees for bad play.

Baccus and Lewis guilty before a court in Sydney to deal with behaviors that corrupt the betting result of an event. A second indictment for participating in a criminal group was withdrawn.

Lewis had not guilty for both charges before, but his request against one of the charges after the negotiation with prosecutors. The couple will be convicted in September.

Davila has not yet submitted the nine charges that he is suspended. He will return to court next month.

The police said that the betting system had led to hundreds of thousands of dollars paid for profits.

All players were knocked down by the league. Davila’s contract with MacArthur FC was terminated shortly after his arrest. Baccus was released by the bulls in the 2024 offseason and Lewis remains suspended.
