Former English midfielder Fara Williams is hopeful that Sarina Wiegman will remain “Incredible Woman” after her success with a double European Championship in her role as head coach of Lionesses Beyond 2027.
England won 35 of her 48 games under Wiegman, with the final victory on Sunday 2025 against Spain in Basel won a triumphal defense of the title in 2022 and served as a revenge for the defeat in the World Cup in Australia two years ago.

The 55-year-old, who claimed the lionesses of the Lionesses in September 2021, is under contract with the football association until summer 2027, and Williams would like to see how she stays at the top at this point.

“I don’t think one of us wants to lose Sarina,” said Williams, England’s most encountered player, the PA news agency.
“Even if we may doubt the lionesses, I think this tournament … we spoke a lot about their substitutions and the timing of them, but if they doubt Sarina, she pulls through.
“The incredible woman she is, the incredible manager she is, and coach she is and how she can gala a group of players and get them to win games, even if things on the field don’t look pretty.”

Wiegman has now won the last three European championships after led the Netherlands to fame 2017. The Dutch team reached the final of the World Championship two years later, which means that Wiegman came in big tournaments in episode five in a row.
“It is an incredible achievement to go to the five consecutive tournament finals,” said Williams. “I would love it if you give her a contract even further than in 2027, but at some point she may need a break.
“But let them take this break after hopefully bringing a world championship for us.”
The nineteen-year-old striker Michelle Agyemang had a breakthrough tournament when she came from the bank to save England twice.

She scored the Equalizer when the lionesses were allowed to get past Sweden in the quarter -finals before taking a later level later to bring the semi -finals against Italy into extra time.

In her performances, she was named as the young player of the tournament and Williams believes that it is important that agyemang gets the right support after a few weeks.
She added: “Her life has changed overnight and over a month. She is a national heroine in relation to what she did.
“I think it is important that she is well protected. She sounds as if she had good people in her area, a good family that helps her with this kind of transitions.”

The winners of the Euro 2025 landed in England on Monday afternoon and were immediately brought to a reception in the 10 Downing Street.
The celebrations will continue on Tuesday with an open top bus parade through Central London.
And Williams is confident that England can continue to strengthen strength, supported by the financing of the national lottery for women’s play.
She added: “The national lottery invested another £ 15 million in women’s and girls’ football who really turns on the game. I think you are in a really good position in terms of funds and driving and growth of the game.”
