Albion’s head coach spoke to Gregg Popovich, known as coach Pop, of American basketball power plants San Antonio Spurs during his summer trips
He was also building the seagulls in Spain-WO this week on the 2025-26 campaign.
The 76 -year -old Popovich is now club president at The Spurs after he was 29 seasons head coach and led her to all five NBA tiles.
Hurzeler, born in Texas, was back in his home state and did the best from a professional perspective.
He said: “I traveled a lot. I was in Spain to learn a little, to learn, learn my Spanish and improve my Spanish.

“I was in the USA and learned from other types of sports, American football and basketball just to learn from other high -performance cultures.
“It was pretty interesting and then I was a bit in the mountains and enjoyed the time there.
“So, it was a mix between a learning vacation and a vacation, and of course the owner keeps me busy with all the things we do, but in a positive way. That was my break.”
Hurzeler visited the Huston Texans in American football and San Antonio.
He said: “In Houston you have a defense coordinator, offensive coordinator.
“I learned from your schedule, I learned how to deal with situations under pressure, I learned about your surroundings.

“I think the United States are a very positive environment. People are very open -minded and have different things in their culture.
“For example, you always have music in warm-up, even during the training session you always have music, during the training session you always have a referee one external referee in every training session, so you really try to replicate the game.
“It is something that I really like, it’s something similar to my idea, so you contact the players, they contact the trainers and in every discussion they learn something, they take a little away.
“You can’t copy anything, but it’s more about getting understanding when there are some elements that we can bring into our culture and our environment.

“They were Texans, it was basketball in San Antonio Spurs and both for their really good surroundings.
“They really trust the process and it is a message how many coaches send, but it’s about how they live and I think Brighton is something that lives well.
“When I see the San Antonio Spurs how they live it, it is only something special in your head and you probably have one of the most successful coaches (Popovich).
“He still has an impact so that they can see how people talk about him there, they can see his influence, and I think to learn from the best coaches of the past. It is always very important for me as a young coach.”

There were treacherous signs of Hurzeler’s pleasure for basketball, a sport he liked to see in Hamburg when he was responsible in St. Pauli.
This includes the idea of insulting or attacking the defense when the possession is overturned.
Albion is ready to turn the heat in the next stage of the pre -season
Or take the time to carefully work on the last shot when the time takes place instead of having the ball in the penalty area in a hurry.
The best example of this was the structure of the last punishment that Fulham defeated.
Hurzeler will try to build on all of this when he works with the seagulls on a second pre -season.

Adingra leaves Albion, but was his time at Amex a missed opportunity?
He said: “Last summer I came from a great success (won the second title with St. Pauli).
“I would not say that I got less success this summer. So it’s always about how to define success.
“And that’s why I’m trying to enjoy summer and not to compare too much.”
