Everton signs Thierno Barry in the greatest purchase under David Moyes

Everton made its greatest purchase under David Moyes by earning the striker Thierno Barry von Villarreal for £ 27.

The France-U21 international has signed a four-year contract and, according to Charly Alcaraz, becomes a second signing of the summer with the largest fee you have paid since Amadou Onana arrived in 2022.

Barry arrives as a replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who had lost two strikers when the end of Armando Brojas had lost two strikers since the end of last season.

The 22-year-old scored eleven goals in Laliga to help Villarreal qualify for the Champions League.

Barry, a former Basel striker, said

“It is very exciting to be here,” he said. “I can hardly wait to start and I hope to start very quickly. I had good conversations with the manager. He said to myself that I have the quality of playing in the Premier League. He wants to do a good job with me. He wants to help me on my street and I felt the sincerity with him, so I decided to come here and well.

“For me it is a dream to play in the Premier League. I think I have proven in my previous career that I can adapt. For example, last season I went to Laliga, a top league, and I think I was a good season for my first season. I’m not afraid to play here and do the same.

“Everton is a big club in the Premier League. You have a good story and good players have played here, like Wayne Rooney and Romelu Lukaku. When I was young, I would like to watch these players, now I want to like these players who went before.”

Barry is looking forward to playing in front of the Everton supporters in the New Hill Dickinson Stadium.

He added: “I think the fans are like crazy people … I like that!” he added. “I like to score for these people. I just want to play here, score and enjoy with the fans. The stadium is very big, it is an amazing stadium, and I look forward to seeing the fans here. When the manager last season came, he changed a bit. The team and I feel the new stadium, I think the club comes with a new ambition, so I want to play my part.

Moyes, Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Idrissa Gany Gueye stuck to New Deals, said he wanted more new signatures.

“We are happy to have brought Thierno to the club,” he said. “We see a lot of potential and hope for good things from him. I hope to achieve more additions in the coming weeks.”
