Eurostar passengers were delayed for hours after deaths on rails

The Eurostar passengers complained that they get stuck for up to eight hours after two people were beaten by trains.

The trains were significantly delayed or canceled in both directions between London St. Pancras International and Gare Du Nord in Paris on Tuesday evening.

The operator confirmed two separate deaths between Lille and Paris.

Three trains were also canceled on Wednesday, so the passengers were stranded in both Paris and London.

A passenger said on X: “The absolutely horrific service from Eurostar, who doesn’t stay anywhere at midnight in Paris. Shocked.”

Others described that they were sitting in stationary trains for hours before returning to Paris and having to sleep in Gare Du Nord. Photos showed large queues at both train stations, while stranded passengers demanded reimbursements on social media.

A passenger who made the trip from Paris to London wrote to X: “3 p.m. check-in, sit in train for almost six hours (all foods have leaked, etc.), finally return to Gare Du Nord and 1,000 passengers who are unloaded in Paris without hotels (cheapest rooms € 2000, and they reimburse up to € 300).

Trains that descend from London, including services at 4:01 p.m., 6:01 p.m. and 8:01 p.m.

French media reported that the first incident between Lille and Paris took place around 5 p.m. The second occurred between Lille and Arras, Ici France reported.

In an update on Wednesday morning, Eurostar warned his customers to expect “difficult” travel conditions with crowded carriages, delays and several cancellations.

The operator reacted to X to the request of a passenger and said: “You can expect delays, and some trains are canceled because some train sets were never made to their destination to ensure a departure the next day.

“Even trains will be overcrowded yesterday with passengers from all canceled trains.”

Another said that there were “a few cancellations” and that the two incidents were difficult to manage because all trains were affected.

A train that left London at 2:31 p.m. was to arrive in Paris at 5:57 p.m., but was delayed for four hours and was not arrived there until almost 10 p.m.

Further trains that remove from London, including services at 16.01.00, 6:01 p.m. and 8:01 p.m., have been canceled. The trains that drain from Paris suffered similar disorders.

Millie Race said in a post on X: “Hey, we have been on the 9032 from London to Paris; still stopped and not sure when we can make it to Paris. Will we be able to get full compensation for our trip?”

Naomi Sanger from Snodland told Kent Online, she got into Gare Du Nord in 16:31 p.m., but it never left. It was stranded at the train station.

She wrote: “The supplies of food and drinks are no longer working, Air Con does not work, coffee machine broken like the card machine! Total joke.”

Another passenger, James, posted: “I need my complete reimbursement and compensation. I got stuck on this train for five hours and there will now be a further delay of three hours.”

It is the second time in less than a week that Eurostar services were disrupted after a person was hit by a train.

On June 18, a dozen Eurostar trains from London to Paris were delayed or canceled after a person in France had been hit on routes.
