Dominic Gape is ready to be one of the high -ranking players of Colchester United – and to help them enjoy a successful second division campaign.
The 30-year-old midfielder joined the U’s with a constant deal from Shrewsbury Town.

Gape has almost 200 EFL appearances to his name and presented in every department for English professional football from the Premier League to the second division.
Former Southampton Youngster enjoyed two promotions in Wycombe Wanderers under Gareth Ainsworth and is now looking forward to bringing his experiences and knowledge to the Joberve Community Stadium after he has joined the Us.
Gape told Cu-FC.com: “I am a central midfielder who likes to go around the playing games, do duels and recycled the ball.
“When I got through at Wycombe, I was really lucky enough to have a great group of senior professionals to support me.

“Now I have the feeling that it is my turn to be this senior professional, give instructions and show the young boys what it means to be a professional and to be a winner.
“If you look at the shape of the back half of the last season, the last 30 games were really strong.
“If we can build on it that there are some improvements here and there, we should be set for a really successful campaign.”

Gape is a Colchester’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Jaden Williams von Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Gape and Williams will report on Monday for the first day of training for training before the season together with the rest of the U cadre of the U.
Colchester begins her new campaign of two campaign with a home game against Tranmere Rovers on August 2.
