An actor on Saturday evening developed a Palestinian flag on the stage during a production of Royal Opera House.
The incident occurred during the addition of IL Trovatore at the venue in London and attempts were made to remove the flag that was resisted.
Adele Thomas’ production is a reinterpretation of a history of the desire and an all -consuming curse that is told over two hours and 30 minutes.
One member of the audience told The Telegraph: “In the Royal Opera House, one of the casts developed a Palestinian flag in the encore.” Someone from the opera house/company then came from the wings to remove the flag from the actor and refused to give it up during the IL Trovatore. “
Another on X on Saturday added: “Exceptional scenes in the Royal Opera Houling tonight.
“During the curtain for IL Trovatore, one of the background artists came onto the stage with a Palestine flag. Just stood there, no arc or screaming. Someone from the stage tried to take it from him again and again. Incredible.”
Stephen Ratcliffe, who also observed production on X, added: “Controversy at the end of Trovatore @Rbo_org tonight when an additional/choir member developed an Palestinian flag. Off stage manager tried to deal with him, but he held his floor.
The Telegraph turned to the Royal Opera House to get a comment.
