Archaeologists find 3,500 years old lost city in Peru

Archaeologists have discovered a city in Peru that is for about 3,500 years old.

The city, called Penico, probably serves as a trading position that the early communities of the Pacific coast have associated with those who live in the Andes and Amazon Basin.

The city center is about 200 miles north of Lima in the country’s province of Barranca and is located on a hill for 1,970 feet above sea level.

Drone material of the location recorded by researchers shows a circular structure on a slope terrace in the center of the city, surrounded by the remains of stone and mud buildings.

The place has a remarkable resemblance to the old city of Caral, the oldest civilization in America, 17 miles west.

Scientists believe that the city could have been formed by climate change after the collapse of the Caral.

After about 5,000 years, Caral is considered contemporary civilizations in Egypt, India, Sumeria and China. However, in contrast to them, researchers developed in complete isolation.

It is believed that Carals have served two sunken tours as ceremonial rooms for meetings and rituals.

Ruth Shady, the archaeologist who headed research on Penico and the excavation of Caral in the nineties, said that the newly presented city was particularly important to understand what became of Caral Civilization after it was destroyed by environmental changes.

“They were in a strategic place for trade, for exchange with companies from the coast, the Highlands and the jungle,” said Ms. Shady.

Marco Macacuay, archaeologist and researcher of the Ministry of Culture of Peru, said that Penico’s importance is the continuation of the Caral Society, which is around 1,800 BC. A decline fell, possibly due to drought and floods.

After eight years of research, archaeologists have identified up to 18 structures in Penico, including ceremonial temples, residential complexes and mural.

The walls of a central place have emerged for their sculptural reliefs and representations of the Pututu, a mussel trumpet that is used in religious ceremonies, the sound of which leads over long distances. It is believed that they have been symbols for power and authority in the Penico Society.

In other buildings, researchers found human remains, clay sculptures of human and animal figures, ceremonial objects and necklaces made of pearls and mussels.

The combination of artifacts from the location mixture influences from the coast, the mountains and the jungle led archaeologists to conclude that the city was a connection to trade in the region.

Yoshio Cano, a spokesman for the Caral Archeological Zone, told the local media: “A great trade was not only found in the Supe Valley, but also with the Huaura Valley, since it is in a very strategic place in the Supe Valley (…). Monitor and monitor and overlooked and long.

Penico officially opened his doors to tourists to visit the old city on July 3.

As part of the project, ceremonial rooms in the city were digitally reconstructed so that visitors see what the city would look like in its heyday.

Peru houses many of the most important archaeological discoveries of America, including the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu and the mysterious Nazca lines that are located in a desert region along the country’s central coast.

The Machu Picchu Mountain Citadel was built by the Inca Empire around the 15th century, hundreds of years after Penico flourished as a city.

In the meantime, the Nazca lines, a number of pictures in the soil that resemble animals, are up to 200 BC. Chr. And 500AD.
