The Liverpool residents chained from the street in which the former Beatle George Harrison lived to stop the disturbance of daily flippers.
Access to Arnold Grove, the location of Harrison’s childhood home, was blocked on Monday morning when the residents complained that Beatles enthusiasts would regularly look through windows and doors on the street.
Chris Bennett, who lives on the street, said to BBC Radio Merseyside that “you look through the window and when you leave your front door open, look through the door”.
He also complained that his family “does not get peace” due to the traffic through private tours.
The area is a regular goal for guided Beatles tours through Liverpool, with the Magical Mystery Tour from the Cavern Club – the venue where the first Beatles concerts took place – often stopped at the location.
Mr. Bennet said: “There have been many more tours lately – private tours, taxis and minibuses – and unfortunately it is very busy here.”
A spokesman for the magical Mystery Tour told The Telegraph The fact that they had not received any earlier complaints about an increase in tourism and claimed that they had a “big relationship” with the residents.
They also said that customers were reminded of respecting the privacy of those who lived in Arnold Grove.
A blue badge for the birth of Harrison’s birth in the house was unveiled last year, one of the first outside of London. The unveiling was described by Olivia, Harrison’s widow, as the “source of the family olz”.
Mr. Bennett, the licensee of a nearby pub, claims that the traffic has been “ridiculous” since installing the badge.
He said: “The first taxi could come at 9:00 a.m. and my wife will see another on the go when she comes home at 9:15 p.m. […] The minibuses and taxis will come in and block the entrance to the grove. “
Other residents stated that they were not involved in the installation of the chain and that the increase in tourism and traffic did not bother them.
“It makes no difference for me. People can do what they like on the street,” said a BBC Radio Merseyside.
When traveling, the Beatles legend recorded the hotel check-in books with the pseudonym “Arnold Grove” and often supported other musicians with the nickname.
Harrison lived in the house for seven years before moving to the nearby suburb of Spece. The three-bed town house in which they lived is now an Airbnb that is marketed to Beatles fans.
