Hyundai will reveal its recent purely electrical model at the Munich automotive exhibition in September, whereby the focus is not only on the design of the car, but also on the software that supplies it.

Although officially only one concept, the new Hyundai B segment SUV is expected to be a thinly designed indication of how a production model das will be offered for sale in mid-2026. The production car is likely to accept the Ioniq name and could possibly be called Ioniq 2.

Our rendering shows what the concept could look like, use the proportions of the KIA EV2 and use Hyundai’s latest “Art of Steel” consultation, which was introduced on the latest Hyundai initium concept. It contains a new interpretation of the characteristic parametric pixel lighting of the brand.

Although the new model is expected to use the same e-GMP platform as Ioniqs 5.6 and 9, Hyundai is expected to present the brand’s new Pleos software system in the IONIQ 2.

Pleos-das combines the Greek word pleo, which means more with an operating system for the operating system-an end-to-end software platform that combines high-performance chips and controllers with a vehicle operating system (OS), its infotainment system, a cloud infrastructure and fleet management, mobility and logistics solutions.

It will work with Hyundai in the next generation of software defined Vehicles (SDVS) to give its upcoming new cars, including autonomous driving, a completely new series of functions.

In contrast to the current Hyundai operating system, Pleos is based on the Android automotive operating system, which offers a variety of new advantages, including adapting the platform, a smartphone-like user interface and access to a wealth of new apps.

The new concept will present Hyundai’s latest design philosophy “Art of Steel”, although it is expected that only the exterior of the car and details of the Pleos software in Munich will be unveiled. Further details of the car, including the interior, will probably be announced during the Milan Art Week in April next year, shortly before the car in Europe was offered for sale.

According to Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, the new car is built a strong European taste and in Europe. “Localization is important,” said Martinet. “In 2024, 79 percent of the hyundais sold in Europe were produced in Turkey or in the Czech Republic. We want to maintain a high level of EU-built cars.

“Our brand new EV is built in Turkey – it is being developed by European.”

Hyundai’s has just invested 150 million euros in its European Technical Center in Germany under the direction of the former Ford man Tyrone Johnson.
