Some women find their changing body shape difficult to cope with during pregnancy. But some things can help:

  • Every pregnancy is different and the NHS advises not to compare each other with other pregnant women. If you are bombarded on social media with unrealistic pictures of expectant mothers, you should take a break for a while. You can also try to join a prenatal group where you can meet other pregnant women to discuss their feelings.

  • According to NHS, training during pregnancy can help you adapt to your changing form and weight gain. Training can strengthen self -esteem and self -confidence. Movement is not dangerous for your baby and can help you prepare for work. Further information on training during pregnancy can be found on the NHS website.

  • Practice positive soliloquy. The Australian platform of perinatal fear and depression Panda recommends how you talk about your body. “You could try to talk to yourself differently and to tell your body that you are proud of the extraordinary job it does to grow a person,” it says.

  • If you fear that your feelings will affect your mental health, speak to your midwife or doctor to support. You can refer them to the discussion therapy or advice.
