Last season, Calvert-Lewin held a difficult campaign, which scored three goals in 26 league appearances and was missing between January and May due to injuries over three months.

The striker has made 239 Premier League appearances for the Toffees since his debut in December 2016 and had a breakout year with 15 goals in all competitions in the 2019-20 season.

Calvert-Lewin said on Instagram: “To the Everton Football Club and the Evertonians. After nine remarkable years in this club, I made the incredibly difficult decision together with my family and a new chapter in my career.

“I didn’t easily choose that. Everton has been my home since I was 19. It is the place where I saw potential in me, challenged myself for growth and shaped myself as a footballer and as a man.

“I would like to express my thanks to all managers and trainers with whom I have worked with over the years, and my teammates, who have become lifelong friends.
