Crew docks at the space station for 2-week commercial mission

An international Crew from four fours in SpaceX ‘latest crew dragon Capsule met with the international space station on Thursday and moved in a problem-free docking to complete an automated 28-hour rendezvous that started with Blastoff on Wednesday.

The detection mechanism in the nose of the crew Dragon Grace, the fifth and final such space in SpaceX fleet, campaigned at 6:31 am EDT in the spatially oriented harbor of the forward harmony module when the two spaceships sailed 260 miles above the ocean of the mid-atlantic.

After the initial “soft capture” was confirmed, the capsule was drawn in and firmly blocked on the spot, electricity and data parade automatically connected, and flight regulators began to check a airtight structurally.

The hatches were finally open at 8:14 a.m., and the Crew Dragon Commander Peggy Whitson and their crew members – Shubhanshu Shuckla from India; Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, an astronaut of the European space agency from Poland; And the Hungarian engineer Tibor hooded into the ward to hug hugs and handshake from the seven long-term crew members of the laboratory.

WhitsonA retired NASA astronaut is the most experienced American plane who offers 675 days in orbit for four earlier missions.

On her fifth flight, she leads the fourth privately financed industrial area, which was chartered by Axiom Space in Houston. The company calculates up to $ 70 million per seat to carry non-NASA astronauts, professional researchers and others to the space station. Whitson also commanded the company’s second place.

During their two-week AX 4 mission, Whitson and their crew members plan to carry out a complete selection of scientific research and technology demonstrations as well as interactive educational events in the home countries of the crew. They were trained for the operation of the space station and will fully exploit the US segment of the orbital laboratory.

“Peggy, welcome back,” said station commander Takuya Onishi when the combined eleven -member crew gathered into an official welcome ceremony. “It is a great honor and a great privilege to have such a legendary astronaut as you on board.

“And Tibor, Shux and Suave, congratulations on their first space flight. We have been waiting for you for so long, and we are very happy to see your smiling faces. With your arrival there are 11 astronauts from six countries and everyone is here to promote exploration of people and scientific research.”

Whitson thanked Onishi and said: “You are an extraordinary host and hopefully you think we are extraordinary guests in the end for a few weeks! We look forward to doing a lot of work with you.”

In total, researchers from 31 countries will help to evaluate data from the AX 4 experiments and technological demonstrations. Whitson said before the start of the mission “opened access to countries that normally do not get access to the room. So this is very exciting.”

Before they reached the space station, the AX-4 crew crew beamed on television that described the flight and their expectations.

“Welcome, Earthlings, from grace,” sparkled Whitson. She revealed the name of the new Crew Dragon moments after reaching the orbit on Wednesday.

“We are in the latest kite capsule and are very satisfied with her,” said Whitson. “She has a little smell of new space, and we love her a couple. It is so much fun to be in space again, always fun to be in space, but it’s really fun to be with three new astronauts in space.”

Uznański-Wiśniewski said: “It is an astonishing feeling to be in orbit for the first time. When I snapped for the first time, I didn’t feel 100 percent, but then everything was down, and when I looked out of the window, the view was only breathtaking.”

Shucla, a test pilot in the Indian Air Force, said about the start on a Falcon 9 rocket: “Wow, what a night it was.”

“When the flight started, it was something, you would be brought back to the seat, it was an amazing flight. And then suddenly nothing, everything made to silence, and you just hovered … it was an amazing feeling.”

Tibor added the thanks to the crew “to everyone around the world and every person in the team who made this beautiful day.”
