A Jewish comedian was canceled by an event location in Edinburgh after visiting a vigil for the victims of the attacks on October 7.
Philip Simon was excluded from the Banshee Labyrinth Pub because she was supposedly connected to Israel.
A reason for the cancellation of his show cited by the event location should I require you in a funny way? Was his number of visitors at a vigil for people who were killed in the Hamas terrorist attacks of 2023.
In a message to Simon, Banshee Labyrinth said: “Our management had a duty of care for our customers and employees to check the political statements and opinions expressed by the actor.
“We believe that it is inappropriate for us to offer the artists a platform whose views and actions correspond to the rhetoric and symbology of groups associated with humanitarian violations.”
Simon said that the only opinion he expressed through the Gaza conflict was a wish for peace and the liberation of the hostages.
He said: “I am still going to be used with the concept that I can only be canceled in 2025 because of Jew. In the meantime, I will still be marginally for my remaining children’s show and continue to examine possible alternative venues for both of my canceled shows.”
Simon said it was too late to find another event location for his show
Banshee Labyrinth informed the Telegraph that it came to his decision after he had searched Simons Social -Media pages.
It was said: “We screen tapes and actors for affiliations and statements that are advocated for discriminatory groups.
“We have organized Philip in recent years and only thought we should look at his sides to see what was going on [a related row at] The neighboring event location.
“If we hadn’t found anything of concern, he would obviously still appear with us.”
The alleged concerns that Banshee have identified are Simon, to share images from a vigil that is reminiscent of Israel for 100 days since the attack on Israel. A message in his X account that it was powerful to “stand strong against terror”; And a post -warning that rape victims of October 7 were forgotten.

Several other messages that the event location had had were variations of calls to “bring the hostages home”, while others made fun of Gaza with flotilla via Greta Thunberg’s short -lived efforts.
Banshee Labyrinth said his decision to cancel the show had come after a series of a nearby event location, Whistlebinkies, who canceled shows by Simon and Comedian Rachel Creeger.
Creeger was supposed to perform her show Ultimate Jewish mother, while Simon was supposed to organize a Jewish Rama of Jewish Comedical Talent.
They claimed that they were informed that their appearances would be canceled after the bar staff staff at the event location had feared to feel “unsafe”.

It was claimed that after an announcement, concerns were expressed that the event location would receive an additional supervision of the police, since the security of Jewish actions was continued to ensure the security of Jewish acts.
Creeger said: “Unfortunately, this is part of a persistent problem of the Jewish actors in this country. We are canceled and often boycotted in silence.”
The couple said they were informed on July 18 that their shows would not go on. It is assumed that there were plans to exchange venues so that they could still appear, but it was too late to meet these arrangements.
Her shows no longer appear on the Edinburgh Fringe Listings website.

The edge and the comedy are involved in several controversy in relation to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
On the sidelines in 2024, two Israeli spectators from Reginald D Hunter’s comedy appearance were booed after they had been raised against a joke that had compared the Jewish state with an abusive spouse.
Hunter then had several appearances canceled and later appeared in court due to suspected anti-Semitic social media contributions. There will be a hearing in November to decide whether the private law enforcement put forward will continue.
At the beginning of 2024, the comedian Paul Currie was banished from a west -end theater after the event location said that he had suspended “Jewish spectators to verbal abuse”.
The Soho Theater consulted the police after he supposedly took out a Palestinian flag, and cried out to an Israeli audience to “get the F-hier out” before he will “be free” chants.
The theater then examined and banned Currie for the “horrific” intimidation.
