Tourists and workers are looking for a break while Greece and Balkans are hit by Heatwave

On Tuesday, Athens (Reuters) made outdoors and tourists who were looking for the shadow when Greece fluctuated under his third heat wave of the summer and the rising temperatures gripped the Balkans region and experienced forest fires in Albania.

With workers with underlying health problems, it was recommended to work remotely to avoid heat stress. Outside the parliamentary building in central -a soldier wiped a towel to wipe the sweat from the front of a presidential guard.

Tourists in Athens, one of the most densely populated capitals in Europe, which sits on a simple flanking of mountains, were looking for air -conditioned restaurants and shops, and some said they lived inside in the middle of the day.

Acropolis closed

The authorities announced that the acropolis, which is located on a rocky hill and hardly offers a shadow, and Greece would be the most visited old location for five hours from Tuesday and Wednesday, a frequent step when the temperatures rise.

The Heatwave continues until Sunday, the Greek meteorological service said.

The scorching heat also learned the neighboring Bulgaria on Tuesday, whereby the authorities asked for companies to give away water and reduce physical work during high risk hours.

In Montenegro, the main roads were overloaded when many hurried to the beaches to facilitate the heat. In Albania, firefighters from four aircraft from Italy and Greece fought two forest fires in a national park in the north and near the southwestern village of Dukat.

Last month, large parts of Western Europe set themselves in another heavy heat wave, which had many dead and triggered forest fires and health warnings in the entire region.

All over the world, the warmest year was in 2024, which exceeded temperatures over 1.5 Celsius above the pre -industrial era.

The examinations published last week showed that the floor surface temperature around Athens has risen up to 10 degrees Celsius after brand vegetation in some places since July 2024.
