Astronauts collect blood on board the ISS

On board the international space station, astronauts are working to examine how the microgravity atmosphere affects human health, such as: B. muscle development and bone structure.

What is that?

As part of a project to examine how the microgravity affects cell health, ISS -Commandant Takuya Onishi from Jaxa (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and NASA Expedition 73 Flight engineer Nichole Ayers collect blood samples from the astronauts at the space station.

In view of the fact that gravity for the ISS is almost not available, it can make things like the blood collection a bit challenging because things have to be disappeared or tied up.

Where is it?

This photo was taken on board the ISS, around 250 miles (402 km) from the earth in low earth.

Why is it incredible?

The blood collected in this image is part of the larger investigation project for examining the immunity test, which examines signs of a possible space of space on cells in the body. Microgravity, radiation, limitation and a change in sleep-wake cycles and can put pressure on the cells, drive lower immune systems and make astronauts more susceptible to the disease during or after missions.

By collecting and analyzing blood, experts can look for possible stress markers, immune cell levels and other signs that can see how a person’s general health changes in space. This can help doctors to adapt the regime in real time to achieve the best results for crew members in the ISS.
