The injury came on June 28th in Anaheim in a unanimous 12-round decision about the Cuban Yuniel Dorticos, a former world champion.

“After I received three medical opinions and a lot of thought, I decided to subject my shoulder surgery,” said Ramirez in an explanation.

“I have inflicted myself with this injury since my last struggle, and I don’t have the clever step for my health or career. Operation is not something a fighter wants to hear, but this is the right call to make sure that I heal really and come back 100 percent.

“I will get out of the ring healing until I am deleted by my medical team, but I am already locked back on the therapy and the way.

“I will be stronger, sharper and hungry than ever.”

Ramirez, 47-1 with 30 Knockouts, took over the crown of the World Boxing Association in March 2024 with a unanimous decision about the French-born Frenchman Arsen Goulamirian.

He then won the title of World Boxing Organization Cruiserweight in Saudi Arabia in Saudi Arabia last November by a unanimous decision about the English Chris Billam-Smith.
