A Belgian man traveled almost 500 miles to meet a French beauty queen from which he kept his future wife – just to find out that he had become the victim of a romantic fraud.
The man, who called himself Michel, appeared in the home of Sophie Vouzelaud in Saint-Julien and announced: “I am the future husband of Sophie Vouzelaud.”
Her husband, Fabien, came out and said to Michel: “Well, I’m the current one.”
Ms. Vouzelaud is a former second place by Miss France 2007. She often has almost 300,000 followers on Instagram and posts about her life on social media.
The 76 -year -old Michel believed that he talked about WhatsApp for weeks and even sent £ 25,000 – what he thought he was repaid.
“I think she played a dirty trick for me,” said Michel.
In desperation, Michel showed the husband’s phone and the series of news that were exchanged between him and the person, of which he was probably Ms. Vouzelaud.
“My wife, no, it’s the fake accounts,” replied Fabien. “You have to be very careful.”
Michel soon realized that he had been cheated and told the couple: “I’m an Ilfecile.”
Part of the exchange was recorded on video and published by Fabien on social media. In an accompanying message, he warned the people of the dangers of romantic fraud, in which someone is made to send money to a criminal who convinces them that they are in a real relationship.
“I’m so sorry for this man. Pay attention to false accounts, I share this video to show you that it is real and will be vigilant! Take care of yourself.”
The Belgian man is accepted as a widower of four years and tries to find love again.
Ms. Vouzelaud, 38, asked him to go to the police to submit a complaint. It is not clear whether he has it or not.
Ms. Vouzelaud said the incident “violates my heart”.
