The private spatial flight ends with a Pacific Splashdown for astronauts from India, Poland and Hungary

Cape Canaveral, Florida (AP) – A private space flight with the first astronauts for more than 40 years from India, Poland and Hungary came to an end on Tuesday with a Pacific Splashdown.

Her SpaceX capsule was stuck on Monday by the Nternational Space Station and less than 24 hours later logged into the ocean off the coast of Southern California.

The four -person crew founded the Houston Company Axiom Space almost three weeks ago.

Axioms Peggy Whitson, the most experienced US astronaut, served as a commander. India’s Shubhanshu Shucla in India, Poland Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski and Hungary Tibor Kapu, whose countries paid more than $ 65 million for the mission.

“Thanks for the great trip and the safe journey,” sparkles Whitson moments after the splashdown. Her record is now 695 days in space over five missions, longer than any other American.

The visiting astronauts carried out dozens of experiments in orbit while they celebrated their heir. The last time India, Poland and Hungary presented in space in the late 1970s and 1980s, he started with the Soviets. They waved and smiled as they appeared from the capsule into the dark in the early morning.

It was Axiom’s fourth mission for the surrounding outpost since 2022, part of NASA’s continuing efforts to open up more companies and people. The company is one of several who develop their own space stations to replace the current one. NASA plans to give up the outpost after more than 30 years in 2030.
