If you were not one of the people in the legendary venue, you should know five things about the victory of London Pulse against Loughborough Lightning.
1. You can win something with children
None of the London Puls players were even born when Alan Hansen said the immortal words “with the children” in 1995.
In fact, the 2025 Champions had the youngest side of all eight teams in the Netball Super League this season.
Her usual bank of Darcie Everitt, Sophie Kelly and Gracie Smith have an average of 18 and a half at the age of only 16 and the youngest Super League player.

It was a statistics that is not lost for head coach Sam Bird when she stealed her team’s first victory.
“We are fearless when they are good enough, they are with Gracie,” said Bird. “Our philosophy of trusting talent pays off.
“To win the league with the latest team shows where we can go from here. My immediate thought was that we will win this year next year. This is the basis of the team.”
2. NSL 2.0 reaches new heights
With the grand finale, the decibels in the O2 arena in London increased.
They reached their own levels when the majority of fans in the arena cheered a pulses.

Among the 9,326 supporters who were present, there was still a strong lightning presentation, a record for an NSL event and the largest netball audience in England since 2002.
The ambition to draw to a great finale that is larger than anyone else has really paid off.
The goal is now that the number of visitors continues to increase on the entire board if NSL 2.0 participates up to date.
The head coach of Loughborough Lightning, Vic Burgess, said: “It was great to see that people appear to play big games, and it is great to see that radio opened more opportunities for people to see Netball and get involved.
“To have the opportunity to play in such a large arena, the girls love it, the thrive and I think more is just better.”

3. Gibson is goodbye to be said goodbye to a fairytale end
The grand finale was not only about the competition on the pitch, but also offered the opportunity to say goodbye to one of the longest servants of the NSL in Jodie Gibson.
The defense lawyer had returned to Loughborough Lightning for the 2025 season after he had also represented Manchester Thunder, London Mavericks and Severs stars in 15 years.
Gibson’s career is a gold medalist and two-time NSL winner of the Commonwealth Gold medalist and perhaps still believed that it was still the perfect last chapter of a fairy tale.
“When I went to a Court of Justice for Northern Donnern for the first time in 2009, we were in the Bury Leisure Center, where I did my swimming lessons at school,” she said.

“It was maybe 5-600 people there, maybe less. Sixteen years later I just finished my career in the O2 Arena.
“I have recently seen us and now I play here on the square in front of all these people, it is a dream that has become true.”
4. Defensive trio shine brightly
Threesome has something in three, with London Pulse offering the entire cutlery this season – the NSL Super Cup, the sign of the league leader and the NSL trophy.
Pulses Defensive trio of Halimat Adio with goalkeeper, goal defender Funmi Fadoju and skipper Zara Everitt at Wing Defense were crucial for the success of their team.

The loss of head coach Burgess even showed that her flash side was set up to fight boxing defense so well.
Fadoju was appointed player of the final and produced a popular number of interceptions, distractions and profits throughout the season.
Adio was sitting a place behind Fadoju for distractions, while Pulses defense made the top three for pick-ups in the entire league.
All three tasted the pain of the Grand final defeat in 2023, and this experience as well as a few years that played together had a clinical victory on Sunday.
5. Ready for the next year?
After Bird has already set the glove that her team can win again next season, the Fighting Talk for the 2026 campaign has started.

It comes when the signature window opens on Monday for clubs so that you can start negotiating new signings and transfers.
Burgess has expressed her wish to keep the lightning square that reached a fifth Grand final together.
With the introduction of two -year contracts as part of NSL 2.0, there is more clarity for some players.
But for everyone else, a summer of intrigue and excitement begin again.
