The Brazilian fashion brand Cris Barros aims at international growth with a new e-commerce platform

The Brazilian designer Cris Barros takes her namesake label into a new era and starts a committed international e-commerce platform for America and Europe because the brand marks 23 years in the fashion industry. The step follows growing demand from global customers and signals a strategic step towards international expansion.

“After more than two decades in Brazil, I had the feeling that the brand had reached a creative, operational and strategic maturity that enables us to look out with clarity, consistency and intention,” Barros told WWD. Barros noticed that the international interest in her collections has grown organically in recent years. Customers in the USA and Europe have combined with the brand through family, travel and word of mouth. “This spontaneous connection showed us that it was time to build a solid and more intimate bridge,” she said. “It is an emotional and strategic step. A new chapter, yes, but one that begins with the same principles that always led us.”

When their brand enters new markets, Barros emphasized how important it is to respect local cultures and at the same time remain true to the brand’s DNA. “Our biggest challenge will be exactly that: to stay true to our creative story and our values ​​and at the same time connect with various contexts and audiences,” she said. The brand’s approach includes strengthening digital presence and investing in selective communication channels, the expansion “as a natural development of who we are”.

Barros believes that what is in line with the international audience is the brand’s commitment to handmade processes, sustainability and social responsibility. “There is growing demand, especially in the USA and in the European markets, for brands with authenticity, storytelling, purpose and extraordinary quality,” she said. “Our customers are increasingly looking for pieces with importance. In every season we introduce more sustainable options and use responsible materials and creation processes. We experiment, for example, with upcycling fabrics from our archives.”

With a view to the future, Barros focuses on reconciling creative integrity into business growth and forecast an increase of 20 percent in 2025. “However, growth is growing with responsibility. For me, the preservation of the creative integrity of the brand is not negotiable,” she said. The strategy includes capsule projects that serve as creative laboratories, cooperation with artists and strengthen the company infrastructure to support the expansion.

In the long term, Barros is striving for her label to be recognized worldwide as a reference for “souls’ design, authority and conscious fashion with care, depth and time”. It also emphasized the ongoing commitment of the brand for social and ecological purposes, including partnerships with NGOs in Brazil. “If our international expansion becomes a platform to strengthen these efforts, I will be proud to create a real value for communities, for nature and for the entire industry,” she said.
