Flights from London to Dubai and Doha were canceled after Donald Trump ordered a US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites.
It comes after a flight from British Airways (BA) from London Heathrow to Dubai was diverted to Zurich on Saturday evening.
The BA109 flight rose from Great Britain on Saturday at 9:53 p.m. and reached Saudi Arabia before the Boeing 787 Dreamliner ended up in Switzerland, as the traceable tracking on the Flighttradar24 website landed.
All flights of the airline to Dubai and Doha, which were supposed to leave Heathrow on Sunday, have been canceled, including return flights, the company said.
Israel announced on Sunday that it had closed its airspace both after inbound and outgoing flights according to the US attacks.
The United States met three core locations in Iran overnight and asked Tehran to start retribution measures against Israel. The escalation followed the days of intensification of hostility between Iran and Israel, with the United States being formally drawn into conflict.
President Trump said in a late -evening address that the Iranian sites were “wiped out” and warned Tehran to either “close peace or to expose a larger tragedy”. Iran swore “eternal consequences” as an answer. His Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran retains all the options in his response to what it described as “outrageous” and “criminal” US law. “
Since then, Iran has requested an emergency assembly of the UN Security Council and suggested that all US employees in the region are now legitimate goals. While the United States has not planned any further strikes for the time being, President Trump warned: “Now the time is for peace. If Iran does not stop immediately, there will be more.”
The British government did not comment directly on the US air attacks, but Keir Starrer confirmed the attitude of Great Britain that “Iran should never develop a nuclear weapon” and asked all parties to return to the negotiating table.
In a statement on travel disorder, British Airways said: “As a result of the latest events, we have adapted our flight schedule to ensure the safety of our customers and our crew, which is always our top priority.
“We contact our customers to advise you on their options while we work through this developing situation.”
BA offers a flexible booking guideline for customers between Sunday and Tuesday, which have already been booked on flights to Dubai and Doha and who want to change their travel dates.
